Different Bed Sizes

divan bed sizesYou may have heard beds categorised as ‘Queen’, ‘King’, or ‘Emperor’ size, but the vast majority of suppliers and retailers currently work to a set of standard size classifications.

It is useful to get familiar with these before research beds, as you can then find out what size will best suit your bedroom.

Small Single        2’6” x 6’3” / 75 x 190cm
Single        3’6” x 6’3” / 75 x 190cm
Small Double        4’ x 6’3” / 75 x 190cm
Double        4’6” x 6’3” / 135 x 190cm
King Size        5’ x 6’6” / 135 x 190cm
Super King        6’ x 6’6” / 180 x 200cm
Zip & Link        6’ x 6’6” / 180 x 200cm

When buying any new bed, consider the maximum size you can fit into the relevant bedroom. Why? Because it is not only important that you choose the correct support from your bed for a comfortable night’s sleep, but that you have enough room to sleep in, as part of a positive sleep process. Consider for example, that if you presently share a double sized bed with your partner, that the amount of ‘physical’ space you sleep on is roughly the same width as that of a child’s cot!

super king bedKing size bed sales have risen consistently over the last 10 years in the UK, as consumers realise this and recognise the benefits and the value of a comfortable and regenerative night’s sleep. Similarly a trend has evolved for purchasing double beds for ‘growing teenagers’.
