How to measure for eyelet curtains
For made to measure eyelet curtains you will need to know your curtain pole width and you desired curtain length or drop. You will need a pen and paper as well as a tape measure.
- Start by outlining your window as well as the width and drop on your paper – this will help you as you go along.
- To measure the width, measure the full width of the pole between the finials – don’t include these in the measurement. Your curtain pole should be no more than 35mm in diameter to allow the eyelet curtains to fit.
- Now, you will need to measure for the curtain drop. To measure the drop for eyelet curtains you will need to measure from the top of the curtain pole to the point where you want the curtains to end. If you want floor length curtains you should decide if you want them to clear the floor slightly, gather on the floor or sit flush. For curtains to clear the floor, take off 1-1.5cm from the measurement. To sit flush use the exact measurement and for a slight gather on the floor add 4-10cm. For the curtains to ‘puddle’ add 20-30cm.
- Now, note your finished measurement on your paper and use these when ordering your made to measure eyelet curtains.
