OK, so you've browsed our general haberdashery section and stocked up on curtain tape and pelform & buckram, but what next? Well if you want to get stuck into your next craft project then a good place to start would be our buying guides. We have dedicated guides for curtain fabric, curtains, poles, blinds, and much more. These guides are a great introduction to making your own curtains and blinds, as well as offering advice on how to measure and fit your creations.
Curtain accessories enhance the decorative features of a room. There are various ways to spruce up window dressings. Tiebacks are used to hold the curtain back from the window. This adds a fun element to a room’s design. A holdback is like a tieback; however, it is more rigid. They are becoming more popular as they are much simpler to use. If you want an inexpensive way to add depth to a room, a valance is ideal.
In our accessories section, you will find everything you need. Take a look at how you can decorate your curtains.
The main thing to consider is functionality. You need to make sure the hooks can hold the curtains in place. If they are made of a heavy material, they must be sturdy enough to keep the curtains on the rod. A lightweight hook is more suited to sheers, valances or curtains made of a delicate fabric.
Check out our extensive range of curtain hooks. They come in a variety of styles and colour, making it easy to find the perfect ones suitable for your window treatments.
To put it simply - it holds the curtain back in a simple yet effective way. Holdbacks are normally made of metal, so they are rigid and maintain a fixed position. They are designed with the intention to carry only the front-edge of the curtain, instead of holding the entire thing.
We stock stylish holdbacks, matching most of our metal pole colours and finishes, for a perfectly harmonised look.
Where you place your curtain holdbacks is completely subjective. However, we advise setting it a third of the way up, from the base of the curtain. Once you have determined where to position your holdbacks – they will require being fitted to the wall. They are normally placed at a straight angle. However, if you like the sloped look and find it does not lose its practicality, it can be a workable option.
