1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?

I love light and airy spaces!  I would describe my style as overall traditional with a bit of coastal, farmhouse, and modern chic.

2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?

I always start by asking myself two questions.  First, what mood do I want this space to exude?  Then I consider, what kind of activities will be going on in this space?  The space needs to not only be beautiful but also functional.

3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?

I would say it is probably the bloggers who introduced me to DIY/Design blogging. Lauren Liess from Pure Style Home and Kate Riley from Centsational Girl have probably been the most influential.  I admire their interior design talent as well as the time they take to share their design thoughts and inspiration via their blogs.  They have also taken the time to personally encourage other design bloggers like myself which I really appreciate and respect.

4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?

When I’m looking for decorating inspiration I will often turn to Ballard Designs and Pottery Barn catalogs, as well as online at Houzz and Pinterest.  I also like going to online fabric stores--sometimes one fabric will give me the inspiration for an entire room.

5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

Ultimately it is my passion for decorating, interior design, and DIY.  I’m driven to get “the look” for less and I love sharing thrifty decor ideas with my readers!  Blogging is hard work but if you have a passion for the topic, genuinely want to help others, can think “outside the box”, and are determined to succeed then there really will be no stopping you.:-)
