1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?

My style is definitely eclectic. I like having a little of the unexpected in a room. It may be a vintage piece mixed into a contemporary design.

2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?

An inspiration piece like artwork or fabric. When working with clients it may be a treasured piece that just has to be in the space and everything flows from that.

3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?

I have not worked with him but I really admire Nate Berkus. He does not have a College Degree in Interior Design and although I studied Interior Design it was not what I obtained my degree in. I assumed I could not go back into design without that degree. Hearing Nate doesn’t either I thought, “well there you go” and I was inspired to start my company without looking back.

4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?

I don’t have any one thing. Nature inspires me with all the colors and textures. Watching other creative people fires me up and challenges me to always try new things.

5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

Good old fashioned hard work. Being a CPA for many years with a Masters Degree in Business Taxation has given me the capability to run my business. Who would think a Designer could be left brained as well! My advice: embrace your background and use it to make yourself better.
