If you’ve never had to purchase a curtain pole before, then getting to the bottom of what you need for your windows and some of the terminology we use in the trade can be a little confusing; and one question that we get asked a lot is what is an extendable curtain pole? In a nutshell it is what it says it is. It is a telescopic pole ( i.e two sections of pole with slightly different diameters, allowing the narrower of the two to slide snugly inside the wider one), which slides in and out, making it adjustable in length to any given measurement within the maximum and minimum sizes specified. Our extendable curtain poles, as with all our other curtain pole ranges, come in complete kit form with everything you need to assemble and fit them.
A lot of people shudder at the thought of having to cut and customize their lovely new curtain pole to a specific size; and although all our poles are easy to customize and cut to size and come with full instructions on how to do so, we realize that some people just don’t want to tackle it or don’t have the time, so we have included extendable curtain poles in our range of metal poles to ensure we are giving all our customers the best range of products that we can, at the best prices. Extendable poles are relatively inexpensive and are great if you’re moving house or living in a rental as you can move them from property to property, confident that there is a very good chance that they will still fit the windows in your new property; or you could simply move them from one room to another in your home.
A point to consider with extendable poles though, is that where the slimmer part of the pole slides into the thicker part, there is obviously a difference in diameter which can create a snagging or catching point on the pole which can hinder the pole rings sliding along smoothly, or can catch on the inside edge of eyelet rings. We therefore recommend our extendable curtain poles be used for light to medium weight curtains only and for dress curtains wherever possible.
