1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?

Design & designers have changed a lot since the end of the 90’s when I started out my career as a designer. Back then it was all about designer stars, and designing to be different for the sake of been different. Today I design what feels good, what feels right for the time, the space I am living in.

2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?

I never listen to a client, I don’t want to even see the client! Once I look at a space, it takes me literarily 2 minutes to have a design concept. When I look at a space even for the first time it is never what it is, I am already looking at what it could be.

3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?

Philip Starck, was the first designer that changed the profession, changed the design world and his words, his intellectual approach has always inspired me all along my career. He brought to the design world what Springsteen brought to rock and roll.

4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?

I am constantly inspired, as soon as I lift my eyes I have brilliant ideas. Not that I can lift my eyes from my desk every day but I try! In NYC it is difficult to find 5 minute of inner peace per day, but when I do it I get inspired.

5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

I followed myself, the inner child, he made me who I am today. There is no such word like career in my life I became a designer and today an hotelier not following a dream, but using my intuition to do the best with what life gave me. I designed my life first, eventually careers followed.
