1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?

At Running With Scissors we are a craft collective of around 10 tutors each with their own skills, unique style and crafts. My passion is crochet.

2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?

For crochet projects I often start with inspiration from the materials. I feel the yarn texture, weight, look at the colour and envisage the creative possibilities.

3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?

All of the tutors at Running With Scissors are great at their own thing. They all have brilliant creative talents and share skills well through teaching and sharing. They inspire! Cathie our dress making tutor I would have to single out as a crafter I admire. She works on our dressmaking course and  supports, advises on such a large array of clothing items and techniques.

4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?

My crochet items are often for a particular person so I take account of their style and needs. I often look to the creative community to get inspired and review craft and crochet trends on the internet and within our own creative community.

5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

I work as a secondary teacher so enjoy sharing skills with others. I have worked with Running With Scissors as a crochet tutor for several years and when the opportunity came up to coordinate a wider range of craft workshops I jumped at the chance. I love crafting and its therapeutic elements and sharing this with other people brings a lot of enjoyment.
