Arik Levy is an artist, designer, photographer and filmmaker, working from his self-named Art and Design Studio, based in Paris, France. Arik has exhibited his work globally and is best known publicly for his Rock piece sculptures. In 2014, he received an award for best light and building design from Design Plus, for his Wireflow pendant designs. Arik also studied at the Art Center Europe in Switzerland gaining a distinction in Industrial Design. So we are proud to bring you the designer insights of Arik Levy.

1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
My style will be to not have one…to find the right solutions to the right moment and company. My style may be pieces that create interest and have a witty aspect to them.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
The work consist of discovering the new and the exciting, creating the experience….but also finding the right answers to the problems posed. In my artwork I am free to work differently and to not be attached to restrictions.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
Philippe Blanchard, Choreographer of contemporary dance. He is able to re question his actions and observation in a very deep way and create around it a corporal expression that moves both Heart and mind.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
Inspiration come from unexpected places, feelings, experiences and reactions….mostly from my mind and totally uncontrolled. Creation is an uncontrolled muscle.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
I have been doing this for about 25 years. I think the evolution of my work will be evident side by side to the consolidation of my presence in the arts. The support I get from collectors, institutes and architects is amazing and exciting. The most important thing is to form good relationships with people you respect and trust.
