1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
I may be a busy mother of two, married and running multiple businesses, but I always need to live with a bit of glam. My style is practical, functional and glamorous.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
I take it outside. I’m lucky to live near the water. I sit with a simple pad and pen and write out my ideas. I find fresh air fuels my creative mind more so than in front of my computer.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
Even though I may not be an interior designer, I have great taste in them. I admire and adore my clients. I also hold the highest respect for what I call “Designerlebrities” ™. These celebrity designers are game changers in the industry and their creative talents are immeasurable. It’s one of the major factors I was inspired to develop and create a talk show to feature them. They help us live beautifully. They are extraordinary in my eyes.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
I like to believe I’m a talented re-mixer of original ideas. There are so little of them these days. I find inspiration by getting as close as I possibly can to the originator. Then I put my spin on it and make it my own. Always learn directly from the Pros, never the imitators.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
I wanted to create a business that is unique for interior designers and the industry as a whole. I follow my gut when making final decisions and I don’t crack under pressure. I work hard to learn everything I possibly can about my industry and I never assume someone is smarter than me. When you can achieve the above I think you are embracing the entrepreneurial spirit. Everything else just seems to fall in place.
