1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
I enjoy a mix of contemporary and traditional elements. I like creating a neutral palette as a base to design and then adding a mixture of color and pattern.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
I try to get my head in the space; I envision walking into the space and determining the vertical space as well as the attention-getters (e.g., grand fireplace, beautiful view, etc).
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
I have such great respect for artists and Jennifer Warren, Five Star Faux Finishes, never fails to impress and inspire. Our ideas are never put to a stop when working with Jennifer. She’s a great collaborator and a person who is so creative and talented…we stand back and look at her work with such amazement.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
We always ask the client for the jumping off place; once I have that then we dive into the space. I like to look at the surfaces and determine how we’re going to enhance the space and give it life…by starting with the materials it becomes easier to accentuate the showpieces of the room.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
My journey is one that involved trial and error of designing and remodeling many of my own homes. That experience has given me such great knowledge of prioritizing and budgeting. I’ve also committed to having only the best people on our team; their skill has to be one that others don’t have and that is what makes us successful.
