With this blind you can choose the colour of the chain you would like. The metallic options give the blind an expensive look, however other options may be available.
You can decide whether you would like to have the control mechanism on the left or the right side of the blind. If it is easier for you to reach one side of the blind rather than the other, then this makes adjusting the blind more convenient.
You can decide whether you would like to have the control mechanism on the left or the right side of the blind. If it is easier for you to reach one side of the blind rather than the other, then this makes adjusting the blind more convenient. On some roman blinds you can also choose between cordlock or sidewinder control type.
Cordlock has a nylon cord that you draw to raise and then you can lock it into place when it is in the required position. This cord can then be released to lower. A child safety cleat is supplied to neatly wind spare cord out of the way when it is revealed.
Sidewinder is a continuous chain mechanism with a low gearing, so it is more suitable for raising and lowering heavy or wide blinds. It is generally regarded as a better, premium headrail type. We would recommend this choice if your blind is over 120cm wide or if the blind is going to be regularly raised and lowered.
This option determines the way in which the fabric rolls. Standard roll means that the fabric sits behind the roller tube. Alternatively, reverse roll sits in front of the roller tube. This option is better when your window has handles that might prevent the roller blind from closing.
Face fixing brackets are secured behind the blind headrail. Top fix brackets on the other hand are secured above the blind headrail.
Please Note: The brackets supplied with your blind may look slightly different to the ones used in the image above. So, please refer to fitting instructions for the correct fitting method.
The Standard headrail allows cords to run down the back of the blind all coming across to one side and threaded through a cord lock system.
The Deluxe sidewinder has cords running behind the blind like the standard, however they wind up into cartridges inside the track. Plus the deluxe has a higher ratio gear so it is easier to open and close the blind, especially important for wider blinds.
With our day and night blinds you can choose from our classic headrail or the EVO headrail system.
You can choose whether the blind will lift open from the left or right side. Your choice will depend on whether you want easy of access to the blind cord, or if you want to make it less accessible to a child.
Standard - This lightweight polyester and cotton blend is predominantly used to line lightweight cotton and polycotton. It gives structure and provides some protection from sun damage and provides a degree of privacy to sheer fabrics.
Premium - This medium weight polycotton-sateen lining has a soft-sheen twill finish and is more crease-resistant. It gives good structure without adding too much weight; and provides better protection from sun damage.
Blackout Thermal - This is a thicker, heavier, tightly woven lining. The reverse is coated with a thin layer of foam that fills the fabric weave, preventing light penetration. Blackout Thermal lining's primary function is to block light, but it also offers effective thermal/insulating properties to help to keep rooms either warm or cool. It is usually cream or white and is ideal for bedrooms.
Here you can choose whether the blind slats will open to the left, to the right, split stack or centre stack. When the the blind is open the blind will stack as follows depending on option selected:
Usually you would choose an option to match your window or door frame. For instance if you install this blind in front of a sliding door you would ensure it opens the same way as the door.
With a made to measure wood venetian blind - the slats will be trimmed to your custom measurements. This will expose the base wood colour on both sides of the blind. When your blind is fitted within a window recess, the outer edges of the slats are not visible and therefore this does not affect the finished look.
Should you be fitting this blind outside of the window recess - you may wish to pick the ‘Stain Wood Ends’ option for a small additional cost. This will ensure that the exposed ends of the slats are stained the same colour as the rest of the slats.
With tape colour there are a number of colour options to choose from. You could match your tape colour to the slat colour so they compliment each other, or alternatively go for a nice contrast.
You can choose the side of the head-rail that your blinds tilt and raise controls are situated. These are fully configurable, with the option to have tilt and raise on the same or opposite sides.
You can choose whether the blind tilting wand will be positioned on the left or right side. Your choice will depend on whether you want easy of access to the tilt wand, or if you want to make it less accessible to a child.
The traditional roller blind is given a chic finish by the roller blind pelmet. This upgrade has an improved mechanism and most importantly the mechanism is concealed (thanks to the addition of the Pelmet option). Please note in most cases the pelmet is manufactured from the same fabric as the roller blind; however some designs use a complimentary colour rather than an exact colour match. Where this is the case, the product images will clearly show the pelmet colour you will receive. This is an upgrade that we heartily endorse and a wise purchase you'll be happy you made.
Both "recess" and "actual size" blinds can be made with a pelmet. The pelmet is only covered in fabric on the front, thus "actual size" blinds (outside of the recess) will have white plastic covers at the ends. The recess blind requires an allowance for the return sides of the pelmet (this will be taken care of during the manufacturing process).
The Roman Blind Pelmet gives the standard roman blind a fashionable finish. An alternative to our current deluxe headrail is a side-winding headrail with a pelmet that conceals the mechanism. The roman blind's fabric is also used to make the pelmet. We strongly recommend the Roman Blinds Pelmet as an upgrade and as a wise addition that you will not regret making.

As this is a made to measure product, it is made to your exact measurements. This means that you are responsible for ensuring the blind is of the right size for your window. For an additional charge we will provide measurement insurance against incorrect measurements. For full details please see our terms and conditions.
Your name will appear in capital letters on your desired blind, and we will only print what you type within the personalised text box. For this blind just type the name you want to be printed. Character limit: 8 characters. For example: Jonathan, Laura, Thomas, Jess.
You can pick your own shirt number, ranging from 1 to 99.

The correct measurement method for your curtains varies depending upon the heading type that you choose. Please select the heading type below and this will direct you to the appropriate measuring advice:
Note: Please be aware that when ordering multiple pairs of curtains, that patterned fabrics are matched from the bottom. Please bear this in mind when ordering curtains of differing lengths as patterns may not match at the top of the curtains.
Note: For eyelet curtains you will need to hang your curtains on a pole.
Measure the full width of the pole between, but not including, the finials and add 2.5-3 cm to the measurement for ease and overlap.
You should measure from the top of the pole to the required finished length, we will then allow a small amount on the top of this length to account for the fabric that sits over the top of the pole.
- For Sill Length - 1.5cm above the sill
- Below Sill Length - 15-25cm below the sill
- For Sill Length - 1.5cm from the floor
Curtain Poles - Measure the full width of the pole between, but not including, the finials and add 2.5-3 cm to the measurement for ease and overlap.
Curtain Tracks - Measure the full width of the track from end to end. If the track is in two overlapping pieces; measure both tracks separately and add the two measurements together.
If being hung on a pole measure from the bottom of the curtain rings, to the required finished length.
On a track measure from the top of the track to the required finished length.
- For Sill Length - 1.5cm above the sill
- Below Sill Length - 15-25cm below the sill
- For Sill Length - 1.5cm from the floor
Note: For pinch pleat curtains you will need to hang your curtains on a pole.

3 inch pencil pleat is the classic heading used on curtains and is compatible with both tracks and poles. This heading gives a fullness of approximately double the rail width.
Based on the rail size you have entered we would recommend ((Widths per curtain)) widths of fabric in each curtain giving you a fullness of ((Widths per curtain)) times rail width.
Please note that all curtains over one width per curtain will contain one or more fabric joins.
The finished width of the curtain is adjustable rather than exact and each curtain is drawn to the correct width before hanging.
For tracks the curtain hooks will need to be inserted in the middle or bottom row of pockets on the curtain tape and for poles in the top row of pockets on the curtain tape.
Curtains with an eyelet heading are only suitable for use on poles and preferably metal ones to avoid wear and tear by the eyelets.
We require the finished length to be supplied from the top of the pole, and the curtain will be made slightly longer then this to accommodate the additional 4cm (approx.) which sits above the pole.
Based on the length of the pole you have provided, we would recommend ((Widths per curtain)) widths of fabric in each curtain giving you a fullness of ((Widths per curtain)) times rail width.
Please note that all curtains over one width per curtain will contain one or more fabric joins.
The eyelets are approximately 40mm in diameter, and are suitable for curtain poles up to 30mm in diameter. Please be aware that you require at least 5cm clearance above your pole to allow for the upstand of the heading above the pole.
This eyelet heading is constructed by punched metal eyelets into a lightly stiffened curtain heading. They are placed at regular intervals and in an even number, across the top edge of the curtain. They create wide folds of fabric which fall into soft columns, rather than tight gathered or a hand tailored heading. Eyelets are particularly good as a curtain that “stacks back”, meaning when open each curtain will fold back tightly either side of the window. This is a good feature if you are limited by space or simply like lots of light in the room.
3 inch double pinch pleat heading is hand-tailored to an exact finished width which is not adjustable and which only fits the window it has been customised for. This heading gives a fullness of approximately 2.2 times the rail width.
Based on the rail size you have given, we would recommend ((Widths per curtain)) widths per curtain giving you a fullness of ((Widths per curtain)) times rail width.
Please note that all curtains over one width per curtain will contain one or more fabric joins.
This type of heading works best on a curtain pole and is not suitable for use with curtain tracks.
The curtain heading contains robust stiffening which is used to crisp folds, grouped in pairs, which are pinched together at the base of the stiffening to form fan shaped pleats.
Special hooks called stab hooks are inserted into the back of each pleat to facilitate hanging (these are supplied with your curtains). These are usually adjustable and offer a small degree of adjustment on the finished length, but it is important to measure the pole width accurately for this kind of heading.
This sophisticated heading, provides a more formal pleat. The curtain will fold back in it’s defined pleats providing a more precise stack back and when opened the curtain will have structured equal pleats when closed.
Triple pinch pleat is a heading that is tailored to an exact finished width. It is not adjustable and fits the pole or track it has been customised for. This heading gives a fullness of approximately 2 times the width of a track or the pole excluding finials.
Based on the rail size you have given, we would recommend ((Widths per curtain)) widths per curtain giving you a fullness of ((Widths per curtain)) times rail width.
The curtain should hang from the bottom eye of the ring that is connected to the pole. For a track the curtain will sit below the track, with the top of the curtain slightly below (not touching) this provide a nice finish.
The curtain heading contains buckram which is used to create a flat section when closed and even folded pleats.
The curtains come with hooks attached, making the whole experience that much easier. The hooks are adjustable and offer a small degree of adjustment on the finished length, but it is important to measure the pole width or track accurately for this kind of heading.
If you have choosen eyelet as your heading type then you can also select the eyelet colour. Most curtains come with a number of different options.
Please note eyelet curtain rings can only be used on a curtain pole with a maximum diameter of 30mm - we would recommend a 28mm metal pole.
Polycotton Lining - This light filtering lining has a soft-sheen finish. It gives good structure and drape to curtains without adding too much weight; and provides good protection from sun damage.
Premium Sateen Lining - This polycotton-sateen lining has a soft-sheen twill finish, is more crease-resistant and is usually used to line medium to heavyweight curtains. It gives good structure and drape to curtains without adding too much weight; and provides better protection from sun damage.
Eyelet curtains - Measure from the top of the pole to the required finished length. We will then allow a small amount on the top of this length to account for the fabric that sits over the top of the pole (upstand).
Pencil pleat on a pole - When hung on a pole measuring from the bottom of the curtain ring to the fininshed length position, either sil length, below sil, or floor length.
Pencil pleat on a track - When hung on a track measure from the top of the track to the fininshed length position, either sil length, below sil, or floor length.
We only recommend that the wave curtain and FREE track to be used on straight windows. We DO NOT advise for them to be used in a bay window.
The wave spacing on these curtains will be 8cm, and the curtains are only recommended for use on the track supplied with the curtains. The fullness of these curtains will be 1.8 times the rail width to achieve the clean Wave look.
With Wave heading you are ordering curtains hung on an included track. For tracks over 180cm then curtains may include one or more joins. The Panel Configuration option allows you to order either:
Pair - you will draw one panel to the left and one to the right (a split draw)
Single Panel - one single panel to cover the full width of the track
When selectiing single panel, you will also be asked to choose your draw direction. The options are:
Single - Draw to left
Single - Draw to right
This option ensures that the curtain draws/opens in your preferred direction.

At Terrys Fabrics we take child safety very seriously. So when ordering a bespoke roman blind using this fabric then your blind will come with a child safety device to help prevent injury. Please see the instructions supplied with your blind for full details on how to fit the supplied safety device.
Deluxe Sidewinder Headrail - When orderding a bespoke blind with this headrail type you will be supplied with a retaining device, which should be fitted to keep the chain taught; to prevent children from getting tangled up on the chain. The advantage of this type of arrangement is that you do not have to remove the safety device to operate the blind and therefore provided the retaining device is properly fitted, there should be no instance of the chain hanging free.
Please contact our customer service department if you have any queries regarding the fitting of your safety device, and we will be happy to assist.
When ordering bespoke curtains or blinds using this fabric, we would advise you to use a professional dry cleaning service rather than washing the finished curtains or blind at home.
Our range of made to measure curtains will be made exactly to your requirements, using the very best fabrics and linings. They are manufactured to a high standard, and are backed up by our 12 month guarantee on all our curtains against all manufacturing defects.
Made to measure curtain panels (depending on required size and fabric width) may have a fabric join to make the overall size required. This is part of the manufacturing process of made to measure curtains.
Eyelet Heading - Eyelet headings can only be used with curtain poles, and there is a choice of eyelet colours available to help you match the curtains to your room. Eyelet curtains take up very little room each side of the window, and this allows the maximum amount of light through your window. You also need slightly less fullness in eyelet curtains so they work very well for smaller windows. However, its best to avoid vertical striped patterns as they can look a little strange when opened.
Pencil Pleat Heading - Pencil pleat curtains can be fitted to tracks or poles, and so curtains with this heading are the most versatile. This heading will work in any room style, and particularly well in traditional settings with a more traditional fabric design.
The main reason curtains are lined is that it prevents the curtains from fading, and also adds some “body” to the curtains.
Standard Lining - This lightweight polyester and cotton blend is predominantly used to line lightweight cotton, polycotton and voile curtains. It gives structure and a nice drape to curtains, provides some protection from sun damage and provides a degree of privacy to sheer fabrics.
Premium - This medium weight polycotton-sateen lining has a soft-sheen twill finish, is more crease-resistant and is usually used to line medium to heavyweight curtains. It gives good structure and drape to curtains without adding too much weight; and provides better protection from sun damage.
Blackout Thermal - This is a thicker, heavier, tightly woven lining. The reverse is coated with a thin layer of foam that fills the fabric weave, preventing light penetration. The Roman Blind headrail supplied is our deluxe headrail option, that has a sidewinder control mechanism.
All our Roman blinds are made so that the draw type is standard / stacked. This means that the fabric sections are of equal size and when fully drawn they fold on top of each other.
If your window gets a lot of sun, then fading can be a problem. This is because when the blind is raised, the bottom of each fold can fade in a line. Therefore when you lower the blind, you can get faded stripes across the Roman Blind.
Choosing a 100% synthetic fibre material will greatly reduce this, as synthetic fabrics do not fade in the same way that natural fabrics do. However it may not possible to completely eliminate this problem, so please call our customer service team if you have any queries.
All Terrys Fabrics roman blinds will be made to your measurements, using good quality parts and components. We have selected our range of fabrics with care to ensure that they are the best quality and value available.
All our roman blinds are manufactured to a high standard, and are supplied with a solid metal headrail, and complete with all fixing brackets. Our universal brackets mean you can easily fix our blinds inside or outside a window using the same brackets.
Our roman blinds are all lined, and are supplied with a good quality polycotton lining as standard. For a small surcharge it is possible to upgrade the lining to one of our premium linings, either a sateen cotton lining in a cream/ecru colour, or a cream blackout lining.
Control Side - You can choose the side that the lift control will be situated on when placing your order.
Fabric Joins - All roman blinds over 130cm will contain a join, as most fabrics are approximately 137cm wide.
If the blind requires a join, then each blind will have a centralised panel of full width fabric, with 2 small panels either side. They are joined in this way to balance the blind, and to avoid the join being in the centre of the blind.
If you require any further information on whether your required blind will be joined, then please contact our customer service team before placing your order.
All Roman blinds are manufactured with a tolerance of +/-5mm.
Where you specify a recess size for your blind, we will deduct a small amount to ensure that your blind will clear your window.
