Allowance for Hems - Top and Bottom
In addition to your finished length, you will need to make an allowance for your hems at the bottom, and your turnings at the top. If you are having your curtains made for you, please ask your curtain maker for their advice, as the amount of hems allowed by different curtain and blind makers varies considerably.
The following recommended hem allowances are based on the measurements we use in our workshop:
- Roman Blinds - 15-20cm (6-8")
- Gathered Pelmets on tracks/boards/poles - 13cm (5")
- Curtains - 25cm (10")
