Maritime & Nautical themes whilst often seasonal, are actually timeless. The look never seems to date and has been a popular one for decades and with generation after generation of young and old alike.
Tall tales of tall ships, pirates, treasure maps, mermaids, dessert islands and shipwrecks have long since captured the imagination of many an enquiring mind or vivid imagination.
This delightfully fresh and youthful maritime collection with its cheerful motifs captures the essence of childhood holidays with iconic images of yachts & sail boats, beech huts, light houses, flags, bunting, spots, checks and stripes. The simple two tone palette of red and blue used across each design looks clean and crisp against the light vanilla, almost white background of this 10% cotton collection which is both fun and stylish. The three designs featured here are aptly named Regatta (bedcover), Bunting (cushions) and Maritime (curtains).
Again a white-washed background is given nautical charm and character, not only by the unmistakably maritime themed fabrics, but by the addition of a few carefully selected and well placed accessories. The hessian textured rug, oar and driftwood picture frames add natural wood and fibre colours which bring a touch of warmth and depth to the scheme as well as providing focal points.
This charming little flags bunting idea, which includes a vibrant splash of red, shows just how versatile and fun these co-ordinating cotton prints are. A simple accessory like this combined with a few matching or coordinating cushions could easily and instantly transform your summer space into something quintessentially sea-sidey and nautical with little outlay, maximum effect and minimum effort.
And while we’re on the subject of fun and stylish, our Beach Huts Blue Fabric (from the same collection I might add) still seems to be as popular as ever and keeps bobbing bobbing up here and there to show just how versatile it can be. Any of these four delightful designs would look great as curtains, blinds, bedding, cushions, wall canvases, table linen, aprons, kitchen accessories, beachbags and much, much, more!
For an alternative nautical look, that’s still young and fresh looking, spots go well with stripes , sail boats and beach huts, for a maritime theme that is truly versatile and adaptable for masculine or feminine schemes. The pale smokey grey and white spot in the image above provides the perfect backdrop to the accessories which provide the nautical theme; but once these accesories are removed the room transforms to a competely neutral scheme, providing another great example of undo-able, sasonal, decorating. Spots are fun and friendly to use in decor and furnishings whatever the age range however; and the cameo image above shows how spots and beach huts have been used to rejeuvanate two vintage style deckchairs.
