In the Mood for - Inspirational Ocean Tones
From seafoam whites through to pale aqua, vibrant turquoises and on to the deepest teals and midnight blues; the ocean offers so many wonderful tones that can be expertly and stylishly incorporated into our interiors, to create surroundings that are absorbing and opulent - or - fresh and revitalizing!
And in addition to a multifarious palette of accommodating colours and tones, the ocean also offers the eye of the discerning interior designer (or novice DIY-er) a multitude of exciting textures, shapes and reflective qualities which can be incorporated in any number of ways into an inspirational and creative interior design scheme. Remember we're not talking ocean 'themed' her though, we're talking ocean 'inspiration' - and there's a big difference!
You don't have to go all out with sail boats, beach huts and reef knots in a bid to bring a little bit of ocean inspiration into your interiors. so breath a sigh of relief if you're not one for twee or stereotypical beach and maritime themed prints and patterns.
Instead your inspiration needs only to be the colours and textures of the ocean that appeal to your own personal colour palette; and simply choosing a beautifully woven or textured plain in a hand full of inspiring, contrasting or complementary ocean tones that eb and flow together such as teal, pale grey and deep midnight blue, is all that is needed for the birth of a stylish ocean inspired colour palette.
Throw in to the mix some luxuriously pronounced textures and some reflective finishes …..
(and maybe a relevant print or small geometric pattern for variation and relief???)
….and you'll be well on your way to an ocean inspired scheme, which may well have been summer inspired, but which will give you both style and longevity across all seasons.
