Living room love: with a feminine touch
Whether you live alone, with a partner, or have a family I think most folk would agree that if there are females in the house they'll have a huge input into the style of the home, along with the type of décor and colour scheme for each room. I also think it would also be fair to say that many males really don't mind a touch of femininity to bring a sense of calm into a home.
In this week's mini-series we're going to take a look at living room interior design ideas, and hopefully you'll feel inspired to try something new or take a new approach when decorating your living room. Florals and soft floaty fabrics are forecast to remain on trend, especially when Winter passes and we're invigorated by the first signs of Spring.
There's so many ways you can bring florals into your décor and they'll add a stylish touch of femininity and, of course you can govern the amount you want to use. If you're a newbie to florals you'll find there's some fabulous floral ready made curtains online to dress your windows, as well as ready made roman blinds with a flowery pattern or a chic floral border. If you want to take the floral theme further you could also use co-ordinating cushions for seat arrangement.
Femininity doesn't have to include floral patterns, gentle colours along with soft-touch soft furnishings and accessories can be used to bring a feminine touch to your living room. As tactile fabrics are bang on-trend this year why not swap your curtains for beautiful velvet curtains? If you think they'll look too heavy once Spring arrives soften the look with full length voiles in a contrasting colour or change the velvet curtains for lighter weight curtains or blinds with a floral pattern.
For those who prefer to keep their furnishings and window dressings plain using floral wallpaper and even wall decals is another trend which is continuing this year. If you want to use floral patterns but don't like the small ditzy designs then now is your chance to go bold – use darker colour shades and fabrics which have bold floral designs which aren't too country cottage in style. These bolder styles can still add a touch of femininity to your living room without being twee or wishy-washy – perfect if there's a lot of males in your home.
