If you love wood and natural materials then Trendy Country is great idea for a kitchen. As the name implies this interior design style uses the principles of a country home or cottage and brings then into the 21st century by using reclaimed woods natural materials and up-cycling whenever it's feasible.
Wood burning stoves and kitchen ranges may not be viable options if you live in a town or city but that doesn't mean you can't get the look using more modern appliance.
These will have to be wooden, whether you choose free standing styles or prefer a fitted kitchen the choice is yours. Even if you have white cupboards you can paint them to take off the shine – you can even but paint which gives a wood grain look.
Kitchen curtains are perfect for this style of kitchen. Gingham, checks and floral patterns will all work well. Café style curtains will also be in keeping with the style and gives you the opportunity to team these with full size kitchen curtains if you wish. You could also make fabric 'doors' for your bottom cupboards to match your curtains. Wooden blinds can also look stunning, especially if you have wooden flooring.
Natural stone is the way to go, but if you don't have the means to go for real stone there are lino design which imitate stone, wooden flooring will also look trendy and is much easier to fit and can be a more cost effective option. If you do go for stone you may like to add large rugs in the high traffic areas, the rugs will provide comfort underfoot and can help to add a different texture to the room. Go for sisal rugs or those made from natural materials if you can.
Exposed brickwork or stone is ideal, however, these too can be faux if you don't live in a home which already has these features.
Wicker baskets, log baskets along with collections (which are bang on-trend at the moment) of stone or glass bottles can be included to help achieve the look. Don't forget that this style in Trendy Country rather than country cottage so you don't have to go down the pretty floral tea cups route unless you want too. Use accessories which suit modern lifestyles, for example if you don't have the time or the inclination to polish copper and brass then don't include them!
