1) What pieces of furniture have impressed you recently?

Recently I’ve been drawn to furniture items in brass or gold, or have interesting textures as a way to change up my very modern streamlined furniture choices in my home. For years now I’ve adored tufted couches, and the surge of interest in mid-century modern furniture has only reinforced this. Picking up on the geometric patterns on tufted couches, the iconic diamond chair and things with faceted detailing such sideboards, and vases have become a recent favorite of mine.

2) What colours are on trend right now?

The shift from silvers and stainless steel to warmer metallic colours such as such as gold, copper, and brass continue to trend in 2015. In contrast to the predominantly white and grey themed rooms that have been popular for the past few years, darker and more saturated colours are now trending, such as red wine influenced Marsala, to shades of garnet and aubergine. Pops of blue such as vibrant indigo or deep navy will also be a key accent colours to pair with the more earthy Marsala.

3) What types of materials are on trend right now?

Wallpaper has recently made a strong comeback, as people tire of chevron accent walls, patterned wallpapers with a more intricate designs are now trending. The appeal for intricate accents will appear on furniture and home accents, such as credenzas and glassware in faceted texture that gives a jewelry-like finish to a room. There is also a surge in mixing modern furniture with mid-century modern or 1970s pieces that have brought leather, in particular cow-hides and brown leathers, that pair well with warm metallic as popular materials choices in interior design.

4) Which of your projects embodies the latest design trend? And why?

As someone who loves glam décor, I have been incorporating warmer metallic, and wallpaper accents in the spaces I decorate and share with my readers. Within the do it yourself projects I make for my blog I’ve also been using gold which you can find in projects such as my DIY accent bowl or abstract painting.
