Remember, remember the 5th of November, marks bonfire night. A night when we remember Guy Fawkes and his attempt to blow-up the Houses of Parliament in 1605 by lighting bonfires and letting off fireworks.
Be inspired by the magic of Bonfire Night to use for the soft furnishings in your home. Although you probably don’t want to have actual firework prints all year round in your home, using patterns and colours reminiscent of 5th November is a great way to add bursts of colour in living rooms and bedrooms.
Be Inspired by Your Bonfire:
Bonfires are full of colour to be inspired by. From flame reds and glowing ember oranges, if you look closely at this year’s bonfire you’ll find a whole host of other colours depending on the materials you are burning. Black, browns and even blues can be used to recreate a bonfire theme for curtains and cushions.
Flashes of Colour:
Full of sparkling colour as they burst into the night sky, fireworks are a wonderful source of inspiration for you home décor. Stripes that remind you of rocket tails when they whoosh ever upward, to the stunning colours of firecrackers and Roman Candles, all can be used to ignite your imagination.
The Night Sky:
Hopefully 5th November will be a clear sky. Twinkling stars against the black night sky is one decorating theme that can be successfully used throughout the year, especially in bedrooms. Use black fabric interspersed with diamanté to create a starry night effect. You can even use this fabric for your ceiling by using a lightweight wallpaper paste to adhere it in place. This idea is much faster and easier than trying to paint your ceiling black and then painstakingly apply little stars, and the diamanté will give a little twinkle of light when touched by rays of light from your bedside lamp.
There’s always plenty of colour and spectacle on Bonfire Night, so why not give your home a touch of November 5th and embrace the autumnal in style within the comfort and warmth of your home.
