1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?

J. MAYER H Architects’ studio, focuses on works at the intersection of architecture, communication and new technology. One major investment in our work is looking at expanding the material of architecture.

2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?

We don’t start with a special formal attention in mind. It is developed during the design process, echoes former experiences and projects towards the unknown.

3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?

Each projects is a unique research into context and culture, and we always develop individual designs for specific programs, sites and clients. Our design process is based on a repertoire of strategic explorations that we developed over the years, on pushing limits and being driven by the curiosity for the new. That’s why we need to activate our network of engineers, consultants, companies and constructions specialists for the different projects. Everybody’s impact is important and highly respected.

4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?

One important inspiration for our work is Frederik Kiesler who´s work spans from objects to exhibition design and architectural speculation. Especially the endless house is a key project for rethinking the boundaries of architecture.

5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

Don’t distinguish different disciplines! We have interest in nature, technology, communication, and how the human body relates to space. Also working with different clients leads to different discourses and feedback, which also produces various contexts that make our work different from project to project. Stay curious! It’s good to know that you don't know really, and that goes for the future and for the past.
