1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?

I am a really low-fuss designer. I think your home should be a place that is comfortable and filled with things you love. You shouldn’t be afraid to put your feet on the coffee table or eat on the sofa. Your design should reflect you and not be a replication of what someone else considers “in style.”

2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?

I always try to mix practical, affordable and beautiful. I often find something I love either online or in a boutique and then try to reproduce my own version using more affordable options.

3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?

I really admire DIY bloggers who aren’t afraid of trying new things and get their hands dirty doing their own work. It is one thing to envision a project but it totally another to actually complete the work yourself. Being a design-focused DIYer is really the whole package.

4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?

For my own home I am always looking for inspiration in places like blogs, magazines, and Pinterest. I love constantly changing things up since life is dynamic. What met your needs a year ago, may not be appropriate now.

5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

If you are designing for yourself, you need to do what makes you happy and not worry that you are the only one doing it. You will never be a trend-setter if you are always following trends. Be willing to take risks, break design rules, and try a lot of things. I think the biggest obstacle holding most people back is fear and indecision about making “the wrong” choice when it comes to design. You always need to keep in mind that almost nothing is irreversible. If you hate that paint color tomorrow, you can always change it, but you may love it today and it will be worth it.
