1) What pieces of furniture have impressed you recently? And Why?

My design style is vintage eclectic with an emphasis on mid-century. Finding affordable furniture pieces is a real challenge. Ikea has added some great Ekenaset chairs to their catalog that have that classic Hans Wegner look for under $200.

2) What colours are on trend right now? And Why?

Blues have really been on trend this year, especially turquoise. It's a calming color. Lately the trend is to mix blues with warm colors like tangerine, olive, mustard. Adding an unexpected touch of pink is popular in interior design right now, too.

3) What types of materials are on trend right now? And Why?

I am seeing more vintage blankets being used for upholstery or accent pillows, colorful rugs, jewel tone velvet and brass. The white interior trend of the past several years is turning around now. People are embracing color again.

4) Which of your projects embodies the latest design trend? And why?

We just moved into a new home, so I felt like I had a clean slate to work with. When I designed our living room, I embraced color, texture and the eclectic look I love so much. I also love using things that have history and things that have a special meaning. That is what makes a house a home. We bought a mid-century bow front buffet and some chairs at a local antique shop. I recovered our sofa with blue velvet and used pillows to add texture and color to the room.
