1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?

My personal style and aesthetic is liveable eclectic glam. I like the luxe look of shiny finishes, mirrored reflections, art deco and modern décor but I also like designs to look as if they were collected over time and not bought at once from the same place. I want a room to feel as if there is a story, if not the whole room, at least some of the décor or furniture pieces. I want it glamorous but comfortable where people won’t be afraid to touch it.

2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?

My creative process is pinterest. I will search my boards or boards of my other favorite bloggers. I give my clients a questionnaire where they circle words that reflect their style or what they want to achieve and feel in their space. In my initial design consultation I get a feel for their likes, wants and needs for the space. Usually my brain is already scattering with ideas that I have to jot down.

3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?

I cannot pinpoint who I respect the most out of my clients. I view them equally. I’ve had a client give me the funds and gave me free reign and I had another who was open to bold color choices. I will say anyone that is open to trying something new is probably going to be a project I have the most fun on.  However that doesn’t take away the respect from anyone else.

4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?

I get inspired by Pinterest, blogs, décor magazines and nature. There are a ton of color combinations that I find just by being observant in my surroundings, the sky, the leaves, just everything created on this earth naturally. It’s truly the best and most inspiring for me.

5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

I started off in college as an art education major because I draw really well and wanted to be a HS art teacher. I changed my major to Interior design and got my degree in that. I find it extremely fulfilling to be able to create a beautiful space for someone and see their reaction. My clients have all been word of mouth and it’s even gotten me to do some event styling at venues as well. Any way I can be creative and create something beautiful, I’m the most happy. Anyone seeking to be in the industry should surround themselves with industry people, whether you follow them online or go to trade events, just position yourself with like minded people. Also remember your time is valuable and you should be compensated for your time and the service you provide just like any other industry.
