This week we’re going to offer you some interior design ideas to get you buzzing around just like the Spring bees! We start by taking a look at some alternatives to Tangerine Tango (Pantone’s ‘official’ colour for 2012) – because after all tangerine/orange is a colour you either love or loathe and by what we’ve been seeing it definitely isn’t to everyone’s taste!
In contrast to Tangerine Elle Décor are forecasting that navy blue will be amongst the most popular alternative colour choices this year. Navy blue offers more than just another on-trend colour, the colour psychologists tell us that blue is a cool, calming and relaxing colour making it a great choice for helping us to relax and unwind in the comfort of our own homes.
If you find the thought of using navy blue as a little depressing and too dark you can always use it as an accent colour. Cream and navy blue have long been associated with chic glamour and refined sophistication – think along the lines of classic Channel to get the idea; Cream and navy or white and navy with splashes of red are not only patriotic (another of this year’s interior design trends) they sit so comfortably together they create a stylish interior which suits all styles of homes.
As navy is a dark colour you will have to remember that it can make small rooms far to gloomy, so using it as an accent with cheap curtains, cheap rugs or duvet cover sets will give you a classy look without you having to try too hard!
Navy blue is also considered a regal colour, so by using it in your home you can up the style stakes and bring touches of royalty into your home – just in time to for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee!
We must also remember that quality also counts and can be the ‘make or break’ point in interior design. However, we must also realise that in these times of austerity getting value for money must also be considered. Thankfully we can choose quality and designer soft furnishings without having to pay high price tags – the age of online shopping has enabled us all to be savvy shoppers and get the latest looks at a fraction of the cost. We’re also now able to hop online and look at interior design ideas and use these to make our homes stylishly trendy.
