As autumn is officially with us we’re going to take a look at autumn/winter interior design colour trends and see how you can use them within your home.
Plum will be featuring heavily this autumn/winter with subtle shades of purple which encompass plum, lavender and striking damson. Many of the top designers are mixing plum with mustard yellow and greys to give these beautiful colour combination a fresh new look.
Paler shade of plum are being seen in wallpaper which has repeat patterns of flower buds and dainty floral patterns which are light, bright and airy. Light mauve is being teamed with raspberry to bring a hint of spring fun to brighten dark days.
Plum in the living room:
For living rooms plum is being used as the main colour with accents of yellow or grey for rugs, curtains and accessories. With the key being on homely comforts net curtains are being replaced with plum coloured voiles to bring a natural warmth to living rooms.
Plum in the bedroom:
These delightful colours are ideal for use in the bedroom. With blackout curtains in rich plum being coordinated with stylish double duvet covers in paler shades of lavender or sophisticated greys to give bedrooms are warm and cosy look. If you love floral and ditzy patterns look for duvet cover sets with pretty flowers on cream backgrounds.
Plum in the dining room.
The deeper shades of damson will create a dramatic effect in the dining room. Team full length curtains with wooden blinds to match wood tables and chairs. Chair covers can be used as a cost effective of saving money and bring this year’s colour trends into your dining area. Team the chair covers with table runners to give a cohesive and balanced look.
Plum in the kitchen:
Opt for the lighter shades if you have a small kitchen otherwise it could become too dark and oppressive. Soft lavender for walls, coordinated with charcoal grey cupboards offer a chic and stylish look to kitchens. Net curtains can be up-dated with a soft cream colour rather than the more traditional white.
