We hope that you are enjoying reading about our favourite bedroom looks as much as we are writing about them! In our fourth instalment we reveal more beautiful and original designs to inspire your own bedroom makeovers.
Bohemian Chic, Feminine – For a feminine bedroom with a difference, one that is bohemian with a contemporary spirit; stage your bed with an on-trend tufted headboard in crisp white – brightened with a backdrop of soft lavender walls. This is a design for the real girly girls – playful yet with understated elegance seen through accessories; try hanging a dainty chandelier, a row of small glass vases with single blooms on the dresser and a vintage alarm clock for the bedside table.
Mix your patterns with layered bedding and floor length pencil pleat curtains – toile, stripes and big blooms are an eclectic mix that works when keeping to three or four colours. Show personal style by choosing colours that you love as opposed to worrying about perfect matches.
Arts and Crafts, Confident – Our inspiration for this look came from a designer attic bedroom complete with original beams and skylights. Due to the confident look of this bedroom, a larger space is most ideal to carry it through. Keep it light and classic with a white or off-white paint on the beams and walls; a statement bed that is styled to reflect the Arts and Crafts movement will take centre stage. Do choose a dark wood for your furniture to contrast with the white and duvet covers bedding should be rich colours and fabrics – think wine reds, creams and hints of bronze.
Rough-Luxe, Sophisticated – The rough-luxe look has seen some popularity this year and is set to gain in popularity in the coming year – especially in hip hotel designs. We can have hip hotel looks at home with a modern variation of this intriguing decorating style. The shell of the room should have an industrial feel with bare plaster or exposed brick on one or all walls and original wooden floorboards in less-than-perfect condition. Bring in a modern four poster bed in steely finish and contrast the rough with luxury bedding sets in white. A touch of luxe with sheer metallics on cushions and wall décor.
Contemporary, Individual – For the lover of textiles, of patterns and bold colours; this bedroom is about showing off your individual style with a bit of hedonism! Start with patterned wallpaper – we like bold floral prints with white on a bold background. If you intend to play a lot with patterns then stick to a palette of two colours plus white – you can always use different shades of your chosen colours to add more interest. Try yellow with blue for a bright and cheery room – blue and white striped bedding, accent yellow cushions and throws with a vintage blue and white floral for pillow cases.
