4 AA batteries are included with this pack, rechargeable batteries are highly recommended and there is a lifetime gurantee on the LED bulb.
 
Battery power saving also extends the battery life to over 30% .
 
Just in case your worried about leaving the light on by accident, the highlight pack also has an auto switch off after 3 hours, which is fantastic.
