1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?

I am an old soul. I love the look and feel of vintage, cottage style with a handmade touch. Incorporating vintage and handmade items into a home can bring a sense of nostalgia and coziness to it.

2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?

I begin with considering the client’s needs and wants, then pick something to use as a springboard that will inspired the entire room. This could be an existing piece of furniture, a new paint colour, fabric swatch etc.

3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?

I am a bit of a lone wolf, always working on my own but I do admire fellow blogger and designer Marian Parsons, aka Miss Mustard Seed. She built her highly successful design business from nothing. I love her style and so does thousand of other loyal followers.

4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?

I love to peruse Pinterest and other blogs for inspiration when I need it. I usually start a project with a mental image. Many times I am unable to find what I created in my mind’s eye and end up making a lot of accessories for a room from scratch. I once went nuts looking high and low for the perfect lamp for a client’s room and finally made one myself. She loved it.

5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

A lot of hard work, sometimes tears and an undying will to never give up on my dreams. I was born to do what I do. I am always looking forward. When I don’t attain certain goals within my own time frame I come down very hard on myself. My advice to those trying to start their own design business is to go ahead and chase your dreams. Never give up. Look at failure as a way to make improvements and keep going.
