Beth Schneider is the principle designer and creative juices behind Elizabeth Victoria Designs, a surface pattern & graphic design studio based in Chicago. Beth started her career working within the interior architecture sector, before realising that creating floor plans was boring. 1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?

My designs are clean and fresh with a fun, playful twist. With a background in Interior Architecture, creating innovative color combinations is always at the forefront of my designs.

2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?

I begin a project by hand drawing motifs in my sketchbook or just a plain piece of cardstock paper and then bring them into Illustrator to digitize and add color.

3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?

Oh wow, this is a tough one! I’ve met a lot of people in this industry and I must say, other designers are the kindest, most generous, helpful people. We are all “in it” by ourselves, for the most part, and those that are entrepreneurs who are creating and running a successful business at the same time, are amazing. It’s not easy and that is very inspiring to me!

4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?

I have a large inspiration corkboard in my studio with torn magazine pages, color samples, post it notes of something I thought of in the middle of the night!

5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

A lot of determination, experimentation, and hard work. It’s been a long and windy road but that’s the best part! The best advice I can give is to be passionate. Love what you do. If you have that passion and determination to never give up, you will be successful.
