Marissa Iacovoni is the founder of interiors blog ODD + EVEN, along with blogging partner Lindsey Delany. Marissa and Lindsey named their blog to celebrate their many differences and how they have successfully embraced each difference to collaborate beautifully. Marissa is a designer for architecture firm Rottet Studio, whilst Lindsey is a residential designer for Evermon Homes. Their blog is an outlet for their interior design passion and a place to share their creative aspirations. So we are proud to bring you the Designer Insights of Marissa Iacovoni and Lindsey Delany.

1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
Our style combines two perspectives. One is clean, architectural, and edgy, while the other is eclectic, colorful, and bold. Our strength lies in the balance of our design duality.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
Before we ever begin to create a concept, we want to know how people want to live in the world we’re helping them to create. Everything flows from there.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
We have both had wonderful mentors in the field who have molded us into who we are today. However, we’d have to say that we are inspired most by each other. We’re very collaborative, so there is a constant atmosphere of creativity with freedom to criticize and edit. We learn from each other’s strengths while supporting each other through our weaknesses. And when that doesn’t work, there is wine!
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
We focus on design processes that aren’t related to interiors – fashion, fine art, photography, etc. Changing seats can change how you feel about a room. Creativity works the same way.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
Plain old hard work, humility, and hustle. Be honest about your weaknesses and work on them, but build your confidence and your voice on your strengths. Always take the time you need to refuel; it’s the best thing you can do for yourself and your work.
