1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?

I don’t feel that I fit into one particular style. I love an eclectic look with a mix of styles including rustic, industrial, traditional and a touch of modern contrasted with warm and cozy fabrics.

2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?

I begin with the end in mind. I consider what I want my project or the space to accomplish or how do I want it to function. And then I dream up the best way to accomplish that.

3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?

Honestly I have been privileged to work with many creative people. But those who work hard and try new things inspired me the most. I was lucky to grow up with an amazing father who did everything. I never remember a time when he hired anyone to fix a car or fix anything around the house. He was my first introduction to the DIY world and he instilled in me a confidence to try and do anything.

4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?

Well I like to begin with the end function and purpose in mind. And then I brainstorm how to get there. If I get stuck, I often bounce ideas off of my husband. Talking about projects out loud often helps me flesh out ideas and the logistics of completing a project.

5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

My background is in interior design and I worked in the field for many years. However, when I went to school, blogs did not exist! I love that over the years I have been able to combine my love of design, my desire to create and turn it into a successful (and fun) blog! But it has not always been easy. Persistence and hard work have been the key to my success. Also, I have an amazingly supportive husband and that makes all of what I do possible.
