Creative trends with nancy bendtsen

Nancy Bendtsen is a design & project manager at Inform Interiors, based in Canada and is currently working on the nearby Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, a designer’s dream project. Having being exposed to design by her mother at an early age, Nancy has a lifelong passion for design that she has utilised to identify new design concepts and the latest trends within interior design. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto, as well as the prestigious and renowned Paris Ecole des Beaux Arts. So we are pleased to share with you the creative trends of Nancy Bendtsen.

1) What pieces of furniture have impressed you recently?

I am very impressed by the sofa from Edra called Standard. They introduced it in a sky blue fabric woven with the photo image of clouds and also with a very soft and almost worn looking chenille and it is the most wonderfully comfortable sofa.

2) What colours are on trend right now?

Right now both cool and warm greys are huge and also yellows to add a bit of warmth and sun to winter. Though I love yellow with clear neutrals all the time.

3) What types of materials are on trend right now?

The trend as I see it is for authentic materials, wood with knots; soft, thick linen; mohair velvet especially in dark colours which create a dark matte mass; waxy textured natural coloured leather.

4) Which of your projects embodies the latest design trend?

We are just about to install a Kasthall Hagga carpet in the lobby lounge of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, it is a traditional Swedish design called Goose Eye. The Lobby Lounge is very popular and the client wanted a cozy feel with special colours, one end of the carpet is much darker in colour to hide the black cords that all the featured musicians use for their equipment. It is replacing a standard pile carpet. The Kasthall Hagga is 100% wool, and one can play with textures and colours. It is a design dream, as your imagination is the only thing confining the carpet.
