1) What pieces of furniture have impressed you recently?

I'm loving the colourful and patterned look for furniture, especially creations made with love and care – hand-painted furniture, folk-art, beautiful patterns, patchwork - old and new pieces with an individual look and a patina of age. We're getting bolder to express our personalities and choose or create really unique pieces.

2) What colours are on trend right now?

I can't get enough of the trend for rich jewel tones, that give a feel of comfort and luxury all at once. Inky night-blues, leafy greens, magentas and golds. As we become more confident to use stronger tones, we look to history for inspiration for these rich, dark shades, but also reach to the future by looking towards airy pastels too.

3) What types of materials are on trend right now?

I see textures as very important - fabrics might be ribbed, velvety, soft, embroidered, embellished or translucent (voiles or lace). Paints are applied as translucent colourwashes, natural paints, and paint effects, with personal touches and decorative detail - folksy and hand-painted is in. Natural woods and bricks also give a rougher texture and more depth to a finish, as well as helping to bring the outside in, as we find importance in the natural world.

4) Which of your projects embodies the latest design trend?

I have recently been working on surface pattern design pieces that combine rich or airy colours with intricate, hand-drawn designs. My designs are carefully and painstakingly layered up digitally, giving that depth and texture to the finished piece. I often create designs from my own hand-painted fabrics, and take pride in creating pieces with a hand-created look. I'm influenced by organic forms and the natural world, and a variety of historic styles in my artwork.
