1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?

Style is about reflecting your personality in a way in which your home – your environment rises up to greet you and is complimentary to your lifestyle. For me, that environment is based on simplicity that is also slightly luxurious.

2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?

Each project, no matter how large or small, begins with one key question, "What works and what doesn't?" Once that question has been answered, it is like looking at a blank canvass where you are free to create. Then ideas, colors, style, and the layout can begin falling into place.

3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?

Creativity comes in all forms. For me, the most creative person I have worked with is my grandmother. Her creative genius stemmed out of necessity complimented by a love for fashion and workmanship. With no formal training, she was able to recreate any garment – from design to completion. A pioneer in the true sense of the word, she took pride in craftsmanship, where creating something with her hands provided a sense of accomplishment and pride. This ability wasn't reserved just garment construction but was applied to every element of her life; the sign of a true artist!

4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?

As a design enthusiast, viewing other artisans work inspires me. Going to craft fairs, seeing human art in the form of dance, looking at architecture and even what has been created for the runway gets my creative juices flowing. Seeing what is possible through the eyes of others is encouraging and inspirational.

5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

My life path has never been one that is simply laid out from its beginning. I don't think there is any one event that I can pinpoint to my current position. Creating, collaborating, and being influential to those around me have always been important. Taking the values, the work ethic and dedication I acquired in my developing years into my daily tasks is my foundation. I think the true secret to happiness in your career is finding your passion and then having the courage and the drive to pursue it. My advice to others? Reach for the moon. Even if you don't touch it, you will be among the stars!
