Q&a with ellora from creatively southern

Here on the Terrys blog, we take inspiration from a huge range of source, but a valuable source of inspiration comes from other blogs from all across the web. Creatively Southern is a perfect example of the types of blogs we love; Creative, design loving, and friendly! In this article I Have a chat with Ellora, who set up and runs the blog as a place to showcase her creative ideas and share with others in the design, craft and DIY communities.

Q&A with Ellora from Creatively Southern

Q1/ What inspired you to start blogging?

I started following a few fellow bloggers a little more than a year ago. I was so inspired by what they were able to create. I've always had some DIY project in the works and always looking for ways to create a meaningful home on a budget. I started blogging as a means to keep up with all my projects and to share creative ideas in hopes to inspire others to be able to do the same!

Q2/ Can you tell me about your readers?

I have such a unique group of readers and I'm so thankful for every single one. Anyone that enjoys crafts, cooking, DIY projects, or just looking for some inspiration on how to create a home using what you have, Creatively Southern has it all. We also have a blogging tips for anyone that is starting their own blog or interested in starting one up.

Q3/ What do you think are the most important key rules to follow when creating a blog?

Keep it simple. A lot of bloggers go all out on their theme and graphics, and fill their sidebar with a lot of unnecessary things. You want your blog to be easy to read and not take away from your actual content. Pictures are everything, so take the time to work on your photography and

Q4/ What has been your favourite aspect of working on your blog?

I really enjoy interacting with my readers and getting to know them. I love getting to know other bloggers and realizing that there are other people out there just as crazy as me. As far as the technical part of blogging, I enjoy learning how to work with CSS code and how to change the appearance of the webpage. Learning the best layouts and components to have on your blog to attract readers can make a big difference! I'm completely self-taught and there is so much more to learn!

Q5/ how would you describe your personal tastes/style?

I would say my style is more laid back and toward the cottage and farmhouse style. I'm more drawn to light neutral colours while using accessories to bring in accent colours. I like a comfortable, lived-in look and weathered finishes. I'm working on making over a few rooms in the house one at a time, and decorating with beadboard, baskets, and natural fibre rugs are definitely in the plans. I don't like many floral fabrics and tend to go toward a modern style in some fabrics and accessories. I like anything that is casual, breezy, and I've lately had a thing for anything vintage. My style is really a bit of a combination of things, but that's the great thing about having your personal style... it's all your own and what you make of it.

Q6/ What interesting projects have you got in store for the next 12 months?

I'm getting closer to the big reveal of the home office! It's really important to me to have a space to work and still have it relaxing and inspiring to me. I'm already looking into ideas for redoing the laundry room and living area of the house. I've been wanting to put a backsplash in the kitchen for almost two years now, so that is definitely on the list for this year to finish!! I also have a two year old little girl, so there is always bound to be some new projects and ideas that are all just for her! Aside from this, I still want to learn more about blogging and share everything I can with my readers in hopes to help anyone I can. It can really hard starting out your own blog in the first year, but there are people out there to help and support you! Thanks Ellora! Your brilliant blog gets a huge thumbs up from the Terrys team!
